In 2016, the BMW M6 GT3 replaced the BMW Z4 GT3, which had been in action around the world since 2010. Since then, the BmW M6 GT3 has been the top model in BMW Motorsport’s customer racing range. The car is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The power train has dry sump lubrication and generates up to 585 hp – with the whole car weighing less than 1,300 kilograms. The car won the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours in its very first season. Other technical features are the transaxle drive concept, a sequential six-speed racing gearbox, and powerful motorsport electronics. BMW Motorsport released an extensive Evo package for this car for 2018.

The BMW M6 GT3 appears in all of the top European racing series for GT cars. Highlights are the 24-hour classics at the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps. In Germany, the car is in action within the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring and the ADAC GT Masters. The car also features in other European series, including the Blancpain GT Series, Italian GT Championship, International GT Open and Eset V4 Cup

The BMW M6 GT3 is also in action in Asia. Augusto Farfus drove the 18th BMW Art Car at last year’s FIA GT World Cup in Macau. The BMW M6 GT3 also lines up in the Asian Le Mans Series – and with great success: FIST-Team AAI clinched overall victory in the GT class at the season finale in Sepang. BMW Team Studie and the Autobacs Racing Team Aguri also regularly field the BMW M6 GT3 in the Japanese Super GT Championship.

Australia.

Having made its debut in 2017, the BMW M6 GT3 returned to the 12 Hours of Bathurst in 2018. The race at the Mount Panorama Circuit, located about 200 kilometres west of Sydney, enjoys legendary status and is, therefore, tailor-made for BMW Team Schnitzer, which made its first appearance down under in 2018. BMW Team SRM also ran a BMW M6 GT3 this year.

And with great success: in its debut season, the car has proven that it also has what it takes to win races outside Europe.
