SATURDAY.

Pole position and podium for BMW driver Glock.

Timo Glock and the Hockenheimring once again proved to be a lucky combination for BMW Motorsport in the 17th race of the DTM season. Having shone at the season-opener on the same track back in May, the BMW Team RMG driver impressed again in the penultimate race of the year. At the wheel of the DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM, Glock initially secured the fourth pole position of his DTM career, before finishing third to take his place on the podium at the end of a hard-fought race. Maxime Martin qualified second to make it an all-BMW front row, but narrowly missed out on a podium finish in fourth place. Bruno Spengler picked up one point for tenth place. Marco Wittmann, Tom Blomqvist and Augusto Farfus were 13th, 15th and 17th.

SUNDAY.

Marco Wittmann claims BMW’s fourth win of 2017 in race number 18.

Marco Wittmann produced an impressive display in his last race as DTM champion – for now – to claim his first win of the season and ensure that BMW ended the season on a high. He finished ahead of René Rast at the Hockenheim finale. Second place was sufficient for the Audi driver to win the title. Wittmann now has nine DTM victories to his name. He ended the 2017 season as the best-placed BMW driver in the Drivers’ Championship, finishing in fifth place with 160 points. In the Team Championship, BMW Team RBM was the top-placed BMW team in fourth. BMW ended the year third in the Manufacturers’ Championship.
