Schnitzer Motorsport sets the course for the future and introduces a generation swap in the team management.

At the end of the year, Karl ‘Charly’ Lamm will, at his own request, relinquish leadership of the successful Freilassing race team. Herbert Schnitzer junior, son of team founder Herbert Schnitzer senior, will take over the management of Schnitzer Motorsport GmbH on 1st January 2019. Until then, Lamm will support the transition with his many years of experience. “Motorsport is developing – and the same applies with this generation swap and a new strategic line-up for Schnitzer Motorsport,” said Schnitzer senior. “A new era is dawning in the team. I’m sure that we will continue to be successful for BMW on the racetrack going forward. Everyone in the team is giving it their all. Huge thanks go to Charly for everything that he has done for and with Schnitzer Motorsport in the past almost four decades.”

“This was far from an easy decision for me to make,” said Lamm. “Over all the decades it has always been about getting maximum success for Team Schnitzer and for BMW. No motorsport challenge was too great for us. However, during all these fantastic moments, it was also a time of sacrifices as far as family and private life are concerned. Now it is time for me to realign my priorities. My time at the forefront of Schnitzer is coming to an end.” Schnitzer junior added: “I have great respect for my new task, but am really looking forward to it. Together with the team, I will give it my all to ensure we continue to celebrate great successes in the future. Charly Lamm’s footsteps are hard to follow in. Under his leadership, Schnitzer Motorsport made racing history more than once. We want to build on that.”
