The IMSA series’ breath-taking cars, legendary racetracks, top-class drivers and enthusiastic fans unites everything that passionate motorsport fans could wish for, and in the process continues a long tradition of sports car races in the USA and Canada, in which BMW has also played a leading role from the start. The commitment in North America remains a central pillar in BMW Motorsport’s racing programme for 2020.
The partnership with BMW Team RLL is entering its twelfth year. Top-class competition and appearances at real racing classics await the BMW M8 GTE in North America. The major highlights include the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and ‘Petit Le Mans’. The Turner Motorsport team will also be involved, contesting the GTD class with a BMW M6 GT3.

The IMSA series race calendar is once again packed with back to back classics in 2020. Legendary racetracks and events have everything that die-hard motorsport fans could wish for and they cause a real buzz among the fans.

The BMW M8 GTE.

The BMW M8 GTE was the first BMW Motorsport race car to be launched before its production counterpart. In January 2018, the GT sportscar contested its first race at the 24 Hours of Daytona, and has been taking on international GT competition successfully in the IMSA series ever since.

The BMW M8 GTE is the first BMW M Motorsport race car to see action before its production counterpart. The GTE car is used in sprint and, primarily, endurance races all over the world. As such, the BMW Motorsport engineers focussed on achieving maximum efficiency and robust aerodynamics.
