CAPTIVATING DTM.BMW in the most popular touring car series in the world.

With thrilling scraps, nerve-racking wheel-to-wheel battles, and sensational overtaking manoeuvres, few race series are as action-packed as the DTM – and BMW’s success story stretches back to 1984 and the very first race, which Harald Grohs won in a BMW 635 CSi. Volker Strycek, also at the wheel of a BMW 635 CSi, was crowned champion at the end of that inaugural season. Eric van de Poele (1987) and Roberto Ravaglia (1989) repeated that feat before BMW withdrew as a works team in 1992.

The success story resumed in 2012. In the year of the comeback, Bruno Spengler and BMW Team Schnitzer won the Driver and Team championships and the trophy for the best manufacturer also went to Munich. Marco Wittmann (2014, 2016) added two more titles and BMW is looking to build on its successful past in 2020 with six outstanding drivers and the BMW M4 DTM, modified in accordance with Class 1 regulations – the most powerful DTM car BMW has ever built.
