THE BMW M4 DTM.

Concentrated turbo power.

The 2019 season marked the start of the new Class 1 era for the DTM. Since then, BMW M Motorsport has been contesting races with the most powerful DTM car ever built. More than 600 hp, significantly reduced vehicle weight, top speeds of up to 300 km/h and the push-to-pass function, introduced for the 2019 season, make the most hotly contested touring car series even faster and more spectacular. The focal point of the Class 1 regulations introduced for the 2019 DTM season is the desire for more power. BMW M Motorsport engineers complied with this desire with the P48 engine. A BMW finished at the top in the very first race of the new turbo era in the DTM when Marco Wittmann won in his Schaeffler BMW M4 DTM at the 2019 Hockenheimring season opener.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BMW M4 DTM.

BMW M4 DTM
Exhaust system of the BMW M4 DTM

EXHAUST SYSTEM.

The exhaust system of the BMW M4 DTM needed to be totally redesigned for the turbo engine. The BMW M4 DTM, in accordance with Class 1 regulations, is fitted with a significantly shortened end pipe on the right-hand side of the car only.

Front splitter of the BMW M4 DTM

FRONT SPLITTER.

Compared with its predecessors, the overhang of the front splitter has been reduced significantly. The result is more wheel-to-wheel duels and a significantly more robust BMW M4 DTM.

Rear wing of the BMW M4 DTM

REAR WING / DRS.

Compared with its predecessors, the rear wing of the BMW M4 DTM is 520 millimetres wider. It also only has one profile now. The DTM adopted the concept of the standardised part from the Japanese Super GT Championship. The rear wing still has a DRS (drag reduction system) in the form of a pneumatic folding mechanism, which reduces the air resistance of the car.

Interior of the BMW M4 DTM

INTERIOR.

A firewall in the interior guarantees maximum safety, shielding the cockpit upward right behind the driver. The interior mirror has been replaced with a rear view camera together with a screen since the 2019 season.

Chassis of the BMW M4 DTM

CHASSIS.

The BMW M4 DTM has a CFC monocoque with integrated tank and steel rollover structure; there are also CFC crash elements on both sides, front and rear.

Rocker switch on the steering wheel of the BMW M4 DTM.

TRANSMISSION.

The 6-speed sports transmission is operated pneumatically via a rocker switch on the steering wheel.

PUSH-TO-PASS.

With the aid of an additional standard component, known as the fuel mass flow restrictor, drivers can call on up to 30 hp more engine power for five seconds at the push of a button. This increase is a result of more fuel being injected into the combustion chambers of the BMW P48 turbo engine temporarily at full capacity.
