THE BMW M2 CS RACING.From the road to the race track.

The success story continues: With the BMW M2 CS Racing, BMW M Motorsport continues its tradition of close-to-production vehicles. Like its two predecessors, the BMW M235i Racing and the BMW M240i Racing, the newest member of the BMW M Motorsport range of products paves the way for ambitious teams and drivers to get involved in motorsport. The BMW M2 CS Racing boasts impressive driving figures and offers the performance of a pedigree race car at a competitive price. The BMW M2 CS (fuel consumption combined in l/100 km: 10.4–9.4 (NEDC); 10.1-9.2 (WLTP), CO2 emissions combined in g/km: 238–214 (NEDC); 229-210 (WLTP)), a BMW M GmbH special edition, is the perfect base for the new entry-level model.  In close collaboration with BMW M GmbH colleagues, BMW Motorsport engineers used many of the insights from the development of the BMW M4 GT4 to set totally new standards in the entry-level class with the BMW M2 CS Racing. Motorsport-specific driving aids, such as ABS and DSC, guarantee that newcomers will be able to handle the car safely. A mechanical limited slip differential with pre-load and separate cooling also comes as standard, as do specially manufactured drive shafts. Like its production counterpart, the roof is also made of carbon.

*Official data on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For more information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures, see www.bmw.de/wltp.

ACID TESTS PASSED ON THE NORDSCHLEIFE.

Miramas and Portimão were followed by the first appearance in race conditions at the fifth round of the 2019 Nürburgring Endurance Series. At the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the most demanding race track in the world, BMW Motorsport Junior Beitske Visser and Jörg Weidinger, test and development engineer at BMW M GmbH and himself a very successful participant in the BMW Sports Trophy over many years, completed the first endurance test and provided the engineers with valuable insights under race conditions. Further outings in the ‘Green Hell’ were to follow, before the car was really put to the test at the 2020 Nürburgring 24 Hours. Professional racing drivers Dirk Adorf and Tom Coronel alternated at the wheel of the BMW M2 CS Racing, which was also run as a media car, with journalists Christian Gebhardt and Niki Schelle.

BMW M2 CS HITS THE ROAD WITH 450 HP.

In the BMW M2 CS road car, the dual charged six-cylinder in-line engine, which is based on the power unit of the BMW M4 Competition, achieves 450 hp (331 kW). The power is unleashed perfectly onto the racetrack and the road via the standard 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 7-speed M dual-clutch gearbox (M DKG) – the adaptive M racing suspension previously reserved for the BMW M4 models – and cup tyres. The standard M racing brakes with painted red brake callipers or the optional M carbon ceramic brakes ensure the car slows down properly. Proof that the engineers at BMW M GmbH have created a real masterpiece comes in the form of a vote by the readers of “Auto Bild Sportscars” in 2020: The BMW M2 CS was voted “Sportscar of the Year” 2020 in the “Small and Compact Car” class in a survey carried out by the journal.
