Tom Coronel will have a team-mate in 2012: Alberto Cerqui will line up alongside him for ROAL Motorsport in the FIA WTCC.

Cerqui bolsters ROAL.

Team Principal Roberto Ravaglia's crew will run a second BMW 320 TC for the talented 19-year-old. Together, Coronel and Cerqui are looking to follow up the promising performances produced by ROAL last year: Coronel celebrated a race victory in Suzuka and finished fourth behind three Chevrolet works drivers in the Drivers' Championship.

In his first year as a professional driver, Cerqui won the Italian Superstars Series with ROAL in 2011. "The FIA WTCC is the natural choice to continue my career in touring car racing," said the youngster. "I am aware, however, that it will not be a walk in the park. A lot of circuits will be new to me and I will be up against very strong opposition." Cerqui's first World Championship race will be in front of his home crowd as the new WTCC season gets underway at the "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza" on 11th March 2012.
